In a world where variants are either imprisoned or forced into hiding, Gayle wants nothing more than to right wrongs and free the innocent. But doing the right thing isn’t always easy, and things get a little more complicated when someone with strange powers escapes on their own.

Gayle Grimshaw
Well-meaning but temper-driven, Gayle's job is to rescue captured variants from a nearby rehoming center, and she takes that job very seriously. She often finds herself toeing the line between righteous anger and a deeper rage that might just tear her apart.
Aaron Vega
After escaping years of isolation at a rehoming center, Aaron no longer recognizes himself. His powers may have saved his life, but they also unravel the things he really wants.
Adya Khatri
Adya stumbles upon the other characters bearing an interesting set of powers. And what's more, her eyes glow red -- something no one else has seen before. She's certainly a mystery to the others. What's this girl's story? What does she want?
Danny Grimshaw
A lighthearted and capable man, sometimes Danny finds himself becoming the counterbalance to his sister's serious nature. His life hasn't been without its hardships, and he'll handle whatever else comes for him.
Sarah Moore
A self-conscious telepath, Sarah's an experienced and hardworking variant who loves what she does. She's caring, she's kind, and she'll do anything for her friends.
Supporting Cast
James Hewitt
Director of the sanctuary all of the characters live in, as well as the farmlands that finance its existence. Depending on who’s referring to him, he’ll either be called Mr. Hewitt, James, or Jim.
Ross Mullins
As Assistant Director, Ross handles all intel and recruits spies to report on the rehoming center’s dealings. Retrieval teams typically report directly to him when it comes to rescue missions.
Damian
A telepath, Damian works with the second retrieval team. He may be a brood, but he has a generous heart.
Desirée
An invisibility variant that works with the second retrieval team, Desirée's a strong-willed woman with strategic prowess.
Marcus
A variant with extrasensory perseption, Marcus works with the second retrieval team. His lighthearted and kind heart is what drives his work.
Lana
A part of the second retrieval team, Lana's a variant with strong telekinetic powers. She might not seem like much of a threat at first glance, but this woman is a force to be reckoned with.
